Gestalt Approach

Gestalt therapy is a relational, present-focused approach that helps you notice what’s happening in you and between us right now, so you can have more choice in how you live and relate.

Gestalt is a relational, present-moment therapy. We pay close attention to what’s happening right now—your thoughts, feelings, body sense—and also to what’s happening between us in the moment. This approach can create new awareness to behaviours and patterns and how they influence you.

How it’s different from other modalities: There is attenion to our total experience in how we are with each other. We can try small, agreed-upon experiments—like slowing down a story, noticing your breath, or role-playing a stuck conversation—to see what new awareness emerges.

How it’s the same as other modalities: We set goals and a plan, talk about your history and context, draw on traditional evidence and experiences, and move at a pace that feels safe.

What to expect: I’ll bring curiosity and awareness to our encounters; you bring what matters to you and what is present in the moment to moment experience of our now to next journey. You’re always in choice—nothing happens without your consent, and you can pause or pass on anything you are not ready for. At times the work can feel tender or uncomfortable; that’s normal, and we’ll ground and regulate together.

Co-creation: Therapy isn’t something I do to you; it’s something we build together. You’re the expert on your life; I’m a supporter in awareness and change. We’ll keep checking in, adjusting, and making meaning—together.”
